Customer Rating: Summary: Not what I expected! Comment: This is not quite what I expected. It is a book of scales and warm up exercises.
Customer Rating: Summary: Practice and results should follow Comment: I only have 1 complaint but minor it should have but doesn't. I assume it is all meant for alternate picking that is the only flaw that is important in my eyes. I think it really keeps eveything basic and easy to use for the purpose it represents.
I think a good book to follow would be one for fingerpicking exercises. I like the metronome eighth notes tip very good advice. They have a good niche with this to keep going with other books.
Customer Rating: Summary: Tom Hamilton was right!!!! Comment: Tom Hamilton (Aerosmith, bass) said that he used the Bass Fitness book in the late 80s to prepare for Pump. In a month, I have gotten so much better due to this book. In addition to the claims on the cover, my timing has improved as well as muting strings. It also keeps me from getting in a rut. This morning I did exercise 56 and it was very challenging to where i could only get to 120 bpm-usually I can do 170. I have gotten a better understanding of the guitar neck as well.
Customer Rating: Summary: I agree with Chuck, but.... Comment: He's right. It's 200 exercises. I do an exercise a day gradually increasing the metronome by 5bpm after a run up the neck to the 12th fret and back down. In just a week, I've gone back and ran through some of the earliest exercises and am already playing those 10bpms faster than I could at the beginning. This book should be a part of your regular practice session.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Warm-up Comment: This book is filled with 200 exercises that challange all four fretting fingers in 200 different patterns. I do an exercise a day up and down the neck with a metronome for warm-up. You can use these exercise to build accuracy and speed. I only give four stars because friends who are guitar teachers recomend more melody oriented exercises.
