Summary: Mind blowing book
Comment: This beautifully illustrated and written 2 volume set is Yogananda's experience of Christ. For those "yogis" (eastern-leaning lovers of wisdom) who would like to know more about Christ and what he was up to--this is your book. However, it's very dense reading. If you want something lighter I recommend "The Yoga of Jesus," also by Yogananda.

Summary: Buy with your eyes closed, read it to really open your eyes
Comment: When I chanced upon a single copy of this title in our local book shop in India, I knew that I had to own it even though it cost more than four times what I have spent on a book till now. After going through this book, I am convinced that it is a priceless treasure and the amount I spent on it is nothing when compared to the spiritual experience it offers.
I was always struck by the essential unity among all religions as brought out by their highest teachings. Even as a Hindu, I could see that the Bible contained the same essential spiritual message as propounded by the teachings of Hindu religion. My thoughts were reinforced when I read the "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahamsa Yogananda. I was awe-struck by his interpretations of some passages of the Bible and how he related them to teachings of Hindu scriptures. A more detailed commentary on the essential unity of Hindu and Christian teachings can be found in the short but scholarly book, "The Holy Science" by the guru of Yoganandaji.
In "The Second Coming of Christ..." Yoganandaji fully expands on the foundation laid by his guru in "The Holy Science". He mentions that his interpretation of the Bible is based on his own spiritual experiences and one can see this is so based on the conviction with which he writes.
If you are a Christian used to the normal and mundane interpretations of the Bible and the life of Jesus, this book will come as an eye-opener. If you are already aware of the deeper meaning of the Bible's teachings then this book will reinforce your understanding and take it to a level that you have never thought was possible.
All in all, this is one title that should be in the shelf, hands and mind of all spiritual seekers irrespective of their religious denomination.

I have had this book for many years, and I am deeply moved by its contents and vibrations. When I read it, I feel close to both Yogananda and Jesus. To those who find it too ponderous, may I lovingly suggest this: don't try to read the book cover to cover, for the long introduction is actually the most "ponderous" part! Sometimes I simply pray over this book, asking, "What do You want me to see today?" - and then I open the book, and the words are wondrously alive and helpful to my personal spiritual journey. Sometimes I have been in awe at how deeply, precisely, and personally God has guided me with this book. It is a true, timeless scripture written by a great Master.
Other times I simply go to the chapters that pertain to the season. For instance, there are several deep chapters on the Last Supper, Good Friday and the Resurrection. I find all of it deeply helpful to my inner understanding and personal devotion. I believe this book will be very helpful to any sincere seeker who yearns for a deeper understnding of, and inner relationship with, the living, mystical Presence of Jesus.

Comment: Ponderous. Very difficult to read. The writing style is so formal that I feel entirely disconnected from the subject which in fact, interests me very much. A shame.
