Customer Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Comment: The cover of the book includes the words "Easy to use 6 Step Balance System". I assumed there would be 6 exercises that I could do every day.
The book actually contains 14 stretching in bed exercises, 24 balance exercises, 8 ball handling activities, 6 warm up exercises, and 2 how to fall safely exercises. This is 54 exercises, not some rather simple set of things that can be done daily to improve balance.
I would say that the book is designed for an older person who has been very inactive. It leads the person through an entire regimen of exercises with a goal of getting the person active. A noble effort.
Being one who already attends a gym three times a week, I was hoping for a handful of exercises that I could use to help me increase my balance. Sorry, I have to give it a low rating.
Customer Rating: Summary: satisfaction Comment: Very useful book. It has helped me to regain my physical balance with relatively little effort. The exercises are very invigorating.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Tremendous Resource Comment: This book is invaluable for anyone that is beginning to experience a lack of balance. It is filled with easy exercises and movements that are designed to improve a person's balance and awareness of their bodies. It has a series of easy stretches to do in bed, before you get up in the morning that are a great way to start the day. It has been carefully researched and written by a delightful woman who is very accessable. She publishes her personal e-mail and telephone number if you should have any questions or problems. Following these suggestions could certainly restore a person's confidence in their ability to fully enjoy the activites of each day.
Customer Rating: Summary: This Is A Great Book Comment: The book, How To Prevent Falls is excellent. It is well written and professionally illustrated. It contains loads of information and easy to do exercises that really do make a difference. They are fun, too! Another nice feature is that it is easy for seniors to read because the type is not too small and the page layouts are very clear. This book makes a great gift for older people. Not only that, the author has her phone number in the book so anyone can call her with questions. And, if you do call, she is very nice and seems to really enjoy talking to people who are concerned about preventing falls. Wouldn't it be nice if more authors were like that?
Customer Rating: Summary: WE LOVE THIS IMPORTANT, LIFESAVING BOOK! Comment: My 83 year old Mom was having balance problems. After checking with doctors and going to a physical therapist with not much improvement we decided to give this book a try. WOW! These steps really work! My mother is stronger and more confident with great improvement in her balance.
This book is not only for the elderly! It's a must for everyone. I do a lot of sports so I'm also doing the steps too. Track and field teams and ski teams are also using it.
