The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) was activated April 16, 1987 and has approximately 42,000 active, reserve and national guard forces. USSOCOM's main mission is to prepare assigned forces to plan and conduct special operations and psychological warfare. That said, one can only imagine the immense physical requirements of the men assigned to USSOCOM missions: a combination of endurance and strength that was unattainable to most people... until now. From the author who wrote the books on military fitness, including The Official U.S. Navy SEAL Workout and The Official U.S. Airforce Elite Workout, comes The Special Ops Workout. No stranger to the grueling training regimens and demanding physical requirements of America's special forces, Andrew Flach takes his work to the next level as he presents a master plan for achieving a level of fitness that most can only dream of. The Special Ops Workout includes: -- Endurance Training -- Strength Training -- Swimming -- Running and Marching -- Obstacle Navigation -- Nutrition -- Sleep Deprivation -- Mental Attitude And more!

Customer Rating: Summary: Outside Workouts Comment: If you're tired of heading to the gym to workout, these exercise programs will give you a fresh routine you can do outside.
Customer Rating: Summary: Stole it from my husband. Comment: I bought this book for my husband, who was growing bored with his regular Army PT and wanted to try something new. I ended up borrowing it from him, and my physical conditioning has improved greatly since then. The drills are clearly explained and very challenging. I'm looking forward to trying more of Stew Smith's programs in the future.
Customer Rating: Summary: 43 Year Old "Special Ops" Mom! Comment: When I got tired of all the coughing and body fluid exchange going on at the gym, I started to develop a workout I could do outside anytime, anywhere. This book was the exact tool I needed to develop a training program appropriate for my fitness level, that I could perform anywhere and without gym equipment.
Mejia and Smith put together programs suitable for beginners to the insane! If you're tired of packing up and driving to the gym, get this book. It will give you the freedom to walk out your front door, anytime and start working out.
I'm adding the 8-count body builder and combat drills to my workout this week!
Customer Rating: Summary: AWESOME Comment: Stew's books are all a great recource for the National Guard and active services! They helped me prepare for air assault and I was very grateful!
Customer Rating: Summary: Both comprehensive and demystifying Comment: With many books out there claiming to prepare you for the Special Operations, it is difficult to find one that isn't merely a little workout routine to get in moderate shape. This book actually prepares your body for the hardships you will encounter while going through specialized training. The book includes rigorous routines whichhelp with the physical conditioning and information to help prepare you for the mental strain you will endure. The only thing this book doesn't do is run for you.
